Duplex Ultrasound Surveillance After Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) in Clinical Practice

نویسندگان

چکیده

A retrospective study from two centers March 2017 to January 2020. For 97 patients who had undergone transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR), the average duplex ultrasound (DU) findings at 12 months after procedure (36% of reached this time point date) were a peak systolic velocity (PSV) 167 ± 153 cm/s, end-diastolic (EDV) 51 55 and internal carotid artery/common (ICA/CCA) ratio 2.3 1.9. Five (5%) exhibited velocities indicative ≥80% in-stent restenosis, defined as PSV >340 cm/s an ICA/CCA >4.2, procedure. Two (2%) underwent repeat intervention for restenosis based on high velocities. >4.2 was consistent with 80% 99% TCAR.

Is routine duplex ultrasound surveillance after carotid endarterectomy cost-effective?

BACKGROUND Although duplex ultrasound surveillance of patients after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is routinely performed, the use of this policy has been questioned. We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of this strategy. METHODS Using a decision-analytic Markov model that depicts the natural history of patients after CEA, we compared a strategy of duplex ultrasound surveillance to a strategy o...

Duplex ultrasound assisted endovascular revascularization of chronic internal carotid artery occlusion: technical note.

Carotid artery occlusion is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke. Endovascular treatment of carotid artery occlusion in high-risk patients offers a therapeutic option to reduce subsequent ischemic events. The technical success and avoidance of complications of the endovascular recanalization of occluded carotid artery is contingent on proper visualization of the vessel wall. To highlight the...

Cost-effectiveness of duplex ultrasound surveillance in spinal cord injury.

OBJECTIVE To determine cost-effectiveness of surveillance with duplex ultrasound for thromboembolic disease in individuals with acute traumatic spinal cord injury at admission to rehabilitation. DESIGN In this retrospective sequential case series study, individuals with traumatic spinal cord injury admitted to our rehabilitation facility between July 1, 1988, and December 31, 1998, were ident...

Carotid duplex ultrasound after carotid stenting

Nature of the scan Generally, a follow-up scan after a carotid stenting procedure is performed for the surveillance of the stent, not for monitoring of the untreated contralateral carotid. Hence, if the contralateral artery is not significantly stenosed, we perform ipsilateral scans only (i.e. “targeted US”). Since the distal/cephalic end of the carotid stent can be placed well distal/cephalic ...

Ophthalmic Artery Occlusion After Carotid Revascularization

Distal embolization resulting from carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS) occurs mainly in the cerebral hemisphere. We report a case of ophthalmic artery occlusion after carotid revascularization. A 75-year old man received emergency CAS for cervical internal carotid artery occlusion. Two months later, the patient was readmitted for decreased visual acuity. We found ophthalmic artery occlusion ...
